Start with clear requirements

A useful assessment begins before uploading a resume. Separate essential requirements from preferences and describe the work the person will actually do. A long list of desirable tools can otherwise distract from the core job.

For example, a customer support role might require handling written support requests and investigating account issues. Experience with one particular ticketing system may be useful, but it should not silently become a requirement if training is available.

Use the resume screening checklist to define the review before you screen resumes against the job description.

How RecruitOS supports resume screening.

  1. Create or select the job and check its requirements.
  2. Upload a resume for that job and run the analysis.
  3. Read the structured strengths, gaps, concerns and match information alongside the original resume.
  4. Check important claims against the source. Record questions where the evidence is incomplete.
  5. Review the candidate with the wider role context before taking the next recruiting action.

What to look for in the result

  • Relevant evidence: work described in the resume that supports a role requirement.
  • Evidence gaps: requirements the resume does not establish. Missing evidence does not prove missing ability.
  • Questions to verify: unclear scope, responsibilities or experience that deserve a follow-up.
  • Match information: a starting point for review, not a probability of hiring success or a reason to automatically reject someone.

A worked review example

Fictional example: a support candidate writes, “Resolved customer billing tickets and documented recurring issues.” This supports experience with support requests and documentation. It does not establish ticket volume, independent troubleshooting depth or knowledge of your product.

A useful follow-up is: “Walk me through a billing issue you investigated, the information you checked, and how you confirmed it was resolved.” This tests the missing detail without turning an incomplete resume into an automatic negative judgment.

When RecruitOS is a useful fit

Use RecruitOS when you need to keep jobs, candidates and resume analysis together, then move between direct controls and natural-language commands. If you are reviewing several people for the same role, continue with candidate comparison.

This is a recruiter workflow. It is not a resume-writing service or a guarantee that a candidate will pass another employer’s applicant tracking system.

Can the analysis make mistakes?

Yes. AI can miss context, misread a document or draw an unsupported conclusion. Review the original resume and resolve uncertainty with the candidate. RecruitOS supports your evaluation; consequential hiring decisions remain with people.
